Brooklyn Botanic Garden - Robert W Wilson Overlook

Brooklyn, NY

Senior Landscape Architect / Project Manager - with SiteWorks

Completion anticipated 2019

This donor-funded 1-acre garden renovation of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Overlook seeks to extend and complement the sweeping entry of the recently constructed visitor’s center entry. The existing overlook commands breathtaking views across the cherry esplanade and formal parterre within the garden. A new accessible pathway will provide a curated journey between the lower and upper promenades. Long disconnected and an impediment to mobility, universal access will bring visitors of all abilities to this place amidst a new perennial meadow and crape myrtle collection. Amendment and re-use of the existing soils, as well as passive irrigation techniques for tree planting at the overlook are but a few of the sites innovative features conceived by SiteWorks - Landscape Architect of Record - in collaboration with Weiss Manfredi Architects, designers and Wolf Landscape Architecture, planting design.
